Aflac® Supplemental Benefits

These are benefits that are payroll deducted and pay cash directly to the policy holder.

Accident

Accidents, as the old saying goes, do happen!  Usually when we least need the aggravation!  Aflac’s accident policy can help relieve the financial stress associated with accident treatments and bring you peace of mind by paying benefits directly to you.

In 2016, there were 61,124,000 (1) visits to the doctor’s office for treatment of an injury.  That is 18.9% of the population, or almost one out of every five citizens of the United States.  This means that you have an almost 20% chance of sustaining an accident severe enough to cause you to seek treatment from a physician at his/her office!

Aflac’s accident policy pays benefits to you for the various procedures you must endure if you have an accident.  There are benefits for x-rays, hospitalization, fractures, stitches, crutches, burns, major diagnostic exams like MRIs, rehabilitation, therapy, and even additional benefits if the accident is the result of an organized sporting event.  In one example, a young person was playing football and broke his leg.  His parents’ Aflac accident policy paid them $6,620 to help defray the medical costs for his treatment.

In addition to these benefits, the policy also includes an accidental death benefit which would pay the policy holder’s beneficiary, up to $200,000 (2), if he/she lost their life due to an accident such as a plane crash or a car wreck.

Short-Term Disability

Cancer

No one likes to contemplate the big C, but it is very important to be prepared in case cancer strikes.  Here is the unfortunate statistic from the National Cancer Institute: “39.5% of men and women will be diagnosed with cancer at some point during their lifetimes (based on 2015 – 2017 data).”

Aflac can help.  Our cancer policy can provide you with cash up-front if you, or a loved one, is diagnosed with cancer.  The policy pays a large initial diagnosis cash benefit, plus benefits for hormonal, chemo and radiation therapies; stem-cell transplantation, hospital confinement, and many other benefits, including breast reconstruction benefits.  There is also a wellness benefit and a benefit for a second opinion.

Critical Care

Aflac has insurance to help you recover financially from a major health event.  These events include, but are not limited to: heart attack, stroke, and sudden cardiac arrest.

CDC data shows that heart disease is the number one cause of death in the United States, followed by cancer, accidents, chronic lower respiratory disease, and stroke.

Aflac’s critical care insurance pays you cash benefits if you, or a loved one, suffers such an event.  For example, the policy pays a $7,500 first occurrence benefit if you suffer a major event.  Plus there are cash benefits for subsequent events, hospitalization, coronary angioplasty, travel, and lodging.
